BOTOX Injections

BOTOX, or Botulinum toxin, is a protein and neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It can be used for numerous cosmetic and medical procedures.  Some medical uses are not specifically approved by the FDA and are considered “off-label.”

BOTOX for Lower Limb Spasticity

BOTOX is now a common treatment for muscles affected by spasticity, including, but not limited to: Movement disorders associated with injury or disease of the central nervous system (trauma, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, or cerebral palsy).

BOTOX for Diabetic Neuropathy and Wound Healing

BOTOX is also being used off-label to treat painful neuropathy, often caused by long standing Diabetes Mellitus.  Other studies have shown that injecting BOTOX into the calf muscle can help relieve pressure on the bottom of the foot for patients with chronic wounds, allowing for healing of these wounds.

BOTOX for Excessive Sweating

For patients who suffer with excessive sweating of the feet, also known as hyperhidrosis, may be treated with BOTOX injections as well.  BOTOX treatments for this condition can provide relief for up to 9 months.
